Meet Tina Barajas

Updated: Dec 18, 2019

"We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone." Ronald Regan.

Tina Barajas works at Atchison Elementary School as an ISS Facilitator. She is also a Math and Reading Support Para for K-5th grade students.

Tina attended Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Mo and Broward University in Davie, Florida!

When asked what Tina likes most about her job she said, "I love being able to help children see that there are options to make when their behaviors get out of control. That the choices they make and learn now, will effect and influence their choices in life in the future. Besides redirecting their behaviors more often than not; I also assist in teaching them in a quiet atmosphere when they may need a little extra guidance and help in completing their classwork. So, I help them both in behaviors and additional help in classwork."

When Tina isn't working at AES you can find her doing a myriad of fun project from reading to home improvement projects to listening to music, needlepoint or watching the latest movies on Netflix! Her favorite author is Debbie Macomber, but she reads a large variety of other genre's as well! She loves to visit antique shoppes, estate sales, walk along the beach, go sightseeing; visit local museums and unknown eateries!

Tina's favorite quote is the Ronald Reagan quote by her picture. She loves this quote because everyone has the ability to reach out and support someone who needs a helping hand. Everyone needs something done around the house, at work, community wide, even within your own family. Just ask, "Would you like some help with that?" Do you need a ride to the store?" Would you like a break for a moment?" "Mind if I help organize that with you?" Donations of money are GREAT and don't require a lot of forethought. TIME. PERSONAL TOUCH . JUST BEING IN THE MOMENT are what counts the most to me.

An interesting bit of information about Tina is that she discovered that she is a direct descendent of Chief Powhatan's daughter Pocahontas (Lady Rebecca Rolfe ) Christian, named after marrying John Rolfe in 1614. doc.

Thank you Tina for all you do for for Atchison Elementary School and for USD 409! #weare409
