Amanda Davis has been teaching for USD 409 for the past 8 years. She taught Special Education at Atchison High School before transferring to the Middle School where she now teaches 6-8th grade Success Seminar! Amanda is a graduate of Atchison High School and the University of Kansas, go Jayhawks!
When asked why she loved working for USD she said, "I love already knowing a lot of the families because I'm from here! I love building relationships with awesome, creative, fun-loving students who are all unique!I get to create my own curriculum and make my class what I (and others) think kids need most. I'm blessed to have such an amazing opportunity! Amanda creates some wonderful experiences for students, ones they will remember for years!
When Amanda is not teaching at AMS, she spends time with her three children and husband, cooking/baking, and crafting with her Cricut! She is married to her husband Jimmy and they have three children Kaysen, Emmett, and Brilynn together. Amanda loves to lay on the beach or poolside and also likes to go bike riding and parasailing.
She also spends a great deal of time being apart of the iReal Academy and presenting at conferences such as MACE, where she talks about the very cool activities she does with her students and the staff at USD 409! She is currently reading Launch, which is a book being used for our Year 2 Cohort of iReal!
Her most inspiring quote is from Carl Buechner, "They may forget what you said but they will not forget how you made them feel." Amanda builds her classroom around this quote and
works hard to make her students know that she cares about each one of them.
