Stefanie Gardner is also new to the USD 409 School board! She is currently a Preschool Teacher and Early Childhood Advocate. She was born and raised in Atchison and has the privilege of serving this community as a teacher and early childhood advocate. She has been married to her husband Steve for 17 years and has two wonderful children. Max is a sophomore at Atchison High School and Carlin is a 5th grader at Atchison Elementary School. When she’s not busy working or serving on the school board, she loves to be outside and especially loves to hike. If she has to be inside, you will find her reading or snuggling with my rescue pug, Francine. Volunteering and giving back to our community is also another passion of Stefanie’s. She serves on the Project Atchison board and until recently, she served on the Parks and Forestry Board, which she loved.
Stefanie is so excited to be a new board member. When asked why, she said, “I absolutely love our schools and our community. I am so grateful that my children have had the opportunity to attend 409 and I wanted to give back to the district and volunteering my time to the school board was the perfect way to do that.” She hopes to continue to build on to all of the wonderful things that are already happening in the district. I hope to see the schools that are safe, where all the students feel recognized, heard and valued.
Stefanie wants staff, students, parents, and community members to know that her decision for the school board is a way for her to give back to the community and she is very grateful for the opportunity. She is eager to learn and serve the families in this district!
As a new board member, Stefanie has been appointed on multiple district committees. These include: Teacher of the Year Committee, Classified Employee of the Year, Sick and Emergency Leave Committee, Negotiating Team and Special Education Director Interview Team.
