Dr. Eplee has been a USD 409 Board Member for the past 10 years. He is a Family Physician at Atchison Hospital and a State Representative for NE KS - Atchison/Doniphan counties. He is married to Debbie Eplee and has been married for 41 years. John met Debbie in Medical School on an OB Rotation. They delivered a baby together! They have three children, Brooke, 39, Lindsay, 36, and Michael, 28. All three grew up in Atchison and completed their education in USD 409 schools!
Dr. Eplee decided to run for the school board because he became frustrated over the cuts by various administrators in Topeka and wanted to better understand how we can educate our K-12 kids with diminishing resources. He also wanted to help the district become a 1-to-1 school district with technology as well as continue to make upgrading our facilities a priority.
Dr. Eplee hopes to see the future of USD 409 continue to have the safest facilities possible for our staff, students, and community, to educate every student every day in an excellent learning environment, to have the best facilities we can afford and to be a technology leader in Kansas.
Dr. Eplee wants our community to know that he, “is a firm supporter of Public Education. It is the foundation of our community and society as a whole.”
Dr. Eplee is on multiple committees in the district including the Policy Committee and the District Activity Committee.
