Sally Berger is new to our USD 409 School Board! She is a retired teacher and taught at Atchison Middle School, previously.
Sally is married and has two children; Reed and Sarah. She also has four grandchildren; Monroe, Ramzia, Beau and Bella and two dogs named Willow and Buddy. Buddy was a stray that showed up in their neighborhood two years ago. She worked hard to earn her trust and when that happened she joined their family. Since leaving teaching, Sally has gone back to doing crafts like card making and cross-stitch. Her very favorite hobby is gardening. She loves spring for that reason and loves to read!
Sally wanted to join the school board because she still wanted to be involved with education. Her four grandchildren who will be entering the system in a couple of years. Having been involved in education in different capacities she felt that she had something to offer and could be useful in serving on the board.
When asked, what Sally hopes to see for the future of USD 409 she said, “I hope to see a strong educational system. Every school system across the country has its own unique challenges. My hope is that we can meet and improve on our challenges.”
She wants teachers, parents, students, and the community to know that she truly cares about our schools and the children that attend 409. They have her promise that she will try to make the best decisions for all involved.
Sally was nominated to be a part of multiple committees as a board member. They include the District Policy Committee, District Activities Committee, and the District Calendar Committee!
